You can help SETXLUG grow by helping us wikify some old pages from our previous site. You can find the source HTML files for the old pages HERE. Use the FormattingRules page for more information about how to convert the HTML documents to something this Wiki understands. You can link your works-in-progress to the WorkInProgress page.

SETX Open Source Software

I've re-registered the old SETXOSS.org domain and begun the process of creating a site there. You'll find some old pages there from way back in 2002, but not much else. Eventually, the intention is for this site to be a self-hosting mini-Sourceforge of sorts.

Which Wiki Is Better?

We're also trying to figure out which Wiki works best for us. This is Wikka Wiki. We also have an installation of Media Wiki HERE. Take a look and leave comments about which wiki you like best.

Comment

(JamesRayKenney) Where, and how do you want us to leave comments?
If here, then, here goes...
The Wikka Wiki page looks more like a web page, which is nice.
Media Wiki looks more like a wiki, which is nice also.
If we want more of a traditional web page look, then, it would seem that Wikka Wiki is the way to go.
But, if we want a real wiki, I would suggest that we use Media Wiki, as:
1. It looks like a wiki.
2. It works like all the other Media Wiki's out there, leveraging the knowledge we already have(or giving us knowledge that we can use in other places), because, Media Wiki is the most used wiki software in high visibility wiki web sites.
3. It automates(and standardizes) a lot of the day to day work and LOOK of the wiki.
I do like the WikiEdit feature of Wikka Wiki though.
What I would suggest, is that we leave the MAIN pages as a Wikka Wiki, but basically hide the fact that it is a wiki, and have a prominent link to the Wiki(Media Wiki) on the front page.

Comment

(JasonHuebel) Well, with the server move, I've taken Media Wiki down for now. We'll revisit this at a later date.
