These are frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the SETXLUG and membership in the SETXLUG.

When Was SETXLUG started?

SETXLUG was originally formed in October, 2000 by NeilSleep. Unfortunately, after a few meetings the LUG became stagnant and disbanded. In the Spring of 2001, the SETXLUG was reformed jointly by JasonHuebel and NeilSleep.

Who Are The Current Officers Of SETXLUG?

The following individuals are currently officers of the SouthEast Texas Linux Users Group.

When Are SETXLUG Meetings Held?

SETXLUG's meetings are held every second and fourth Monday of the month at the Logon Cafe in Beaumont, TX. Meetings usually last from 7pm to 9pm.

What Usually Happens At A SETXLUG Meeting?

SETXLUG's meetings are usually informal. We generally discuss news, events and ask questions in an open discussion style. On occasion (usually once a month), we have a formal presentation on a Linux or Open Source topic.

How Do I Become A Member?

Sign up for an account on this wiki. Once you've signed up, you can modify pages on this site. You may also want to join out Facebook Group.

How Much Does It Cost To Be A Member?

Membership in SETXLUG is free. We may occasionally call on our membership to help out with club expenses. Some examples of club expenses include printed materials for local computer expos and CDs for burning Linux for users who don't have a broadband connection at home. However, members are under no obligation to contribute.

How Can I Start Learning About Linux?

Great question! That's why SETXLUG is here.

Firstly, you probably want to take a look at the Linux CD Availability FAQ. It explains how you can receive a copy of a Linux distribution at very little cost, directly from SETXLUG!

Secondly, you should attend our meetings (see "When Are SETXLUG Meetings Held?" above). If you have any questions, our meetings are a great place to get answers.
